30 FANN members turn out for inaugural GrowNative Workshop

FANN members, including some new members, came from as far as Tallahassee and Davie to hear the ornamental native gospel as spoken by Roger Triplett, Green Seasons Nursery, January 8, 2016 in Parrish. Roger spoke to the need to get more native plants into landscape use by producing them in ways familiar to ornamental buyers (garden centers and landscapers). We haven’t told Roger this but one of our attendees actually said in the follow-up survey “I could listen to him talk all day.” Green Seasons Nursery Manager Maria Vega demonstrated the trimming process that Green Seasons plants go through to make them “presentable” to customers. The workshop was well received and attendees are looking forward to the next one: April 29 at Green Isle Gardens in Groveland, with Marc Godts focusing on the production of native upland plants (such as scrub and sandhill species) and native Milkweed (Asclepias).
