FANN is so proud that our own Heather Blake, owner of Natural Treasures Farm & Nursery (with a “day job” at Chestnut Hill Tree Farm), is being recognized with the “Outstanding Chapter Leader” award by FNGLA at their annual convention this June. Per FNGLA’s news release: Heather is the current president of the FNGLA Frontrunners Chapter and has done an outstanding job of planning and organizing new and different monthly chapter meetings. She has championed two community landscape projects which she and her fellow chapter members executed with great enthusiasm and success.

FANN also tips our hat to native plant lover P.J. Klinger, retired from (lapsed FANN member) Brantley Nurseries in Longwood, who is being inducted into the FNGLA HAll of Fame. Per FNGLA: P.J. Klinger is considered one of the industry’s foremost plantsmen. Not only does he have extensive knowledge of a wide range of plants, P.J. developed several new cultivars including Florida City Series Coleus, Syngonium ‘Red Butterfly’, Viburnum ‘Halfabuki’ and Loropetalum ‘Purple Zirconium.’ During his 31-year career at family-owned Brantley Nurseries, P.J. has been active on several industry boards and generous in sharing his expertise and passion for plants with all who have interest. We know that P.J. is making room on his own property to grow some native plants and we can’t wait to see what he does with them.
