SITES™ provides a system for rating the sustainability of landscapes and has been incorporated into the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) LEED (Leadership in Energy Efficient Design) system. LEED accreditation is required for most projects involving federal funding and is the most widely followed green building accreditation system in the world.

SITES™ has been developed under the leadership of The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and U.S. Botanic Garden, with industry wide collaboration and input.
